From 9 to 18 October, light artists illuminate Berlin's best-known buildings. The theme of the 22nd edition is love, and in the Berliner Dom DJs play alongside 3D video art.

On Friday the Festival of Lights begins in Berlin. From 9 to 18 October, according to the organisers, the German capital will turn into "a radiant stage for light art". The installations are lit every evening from 19.00 to 23.00.

The theme: love

This is the 22nd edition, with the motto "Colours of Love". This time everything revolves around "the most poetic and at the same time deepest feeling: love", write the organisers. Over ten evenings, the makers want their visitors to fall in love with Berlin all over again.

The festival has existed since 2005 and calls itself one of the best-known light festivals in the world. With light installations, sculptures and a supporting programme, monuments, buildings and squares become "the stars" of the city every autumn.

Light and music in the Dom

New this year is "Beyond the Light". In addition, "Festival of Lights in Concert" returns: a series of shows with immersive 3D video art and ambient sets by DJs and artists in the Berliner Dom. From 13 to 17 October, according to the festival, Alle Farben, Klangkarussell, Westbam, Anja Schneider, Chris Bekker and Ukai Ndame will perform there, away from their usual club sets.

Last year the motto of the 21st edition was "Let's shine together"; it ran from 8 to 15 October 2025.
