Jazz in Europe in late October: Berlin begins, Paris looks back
Jazzfest Berlin begins on 29 October. Two Paris festival series have ended; Copenhagen has a separate club concert on its calendar.

The late-October jazz calendars of Berlin, Paris and Copenhagen show three different moments. Berlin has a festival starting this week and continuing into November. Two Paris festival series have already held their final concerts. Copenhagen has a jazz club evening this week, separate from the city’s major summer festival. Music links these places, but date, venue and type of programme determine what a visitor can hear. A festival announcement may cover several locations, while a club listing concerns one performance. A city or festival name alone therefore says little about a particular evening.
According to organiser Berliner Festspiele, Jazzfest Berlin runs from Thursday 29 October through Sunday 1 November 2026. The Haus der Berliner Festspiele is one of its venues, alongside other stages around the city. The four-day period allows for varied concerts and collaborations, but does not describe a programme at a single address. The festival page lists individual performances with their own location and time. For a Berlin visit, the specific concert is therefore the relevant unit. The festival dates show that the edition is still ahead in the final days of October and extends into the first weekend of November.
In Paris, the focus is on events earlier in the month. Jazz sur Seine lists 9 through 24 October for its 2026 edition. The Festival Jazz Nouvelle-Orléans à la Goutte d’Or at Le 360 Paris ran from 23 through 25 October, including Saturday and Sunday on the venue’s programme page. The two series overlapped at the end but each had its own organiser and programme. They reflect a busy Paris jazz month without promising another festival evening in the final October week. A separate club evening elsewhere in Paris would need a new, specific calendar listing.

Copenhagen does have a specific performance in the final October week. Jazzhus Montmartre lists Buster Isitt for Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 20:00. The club is at Store Regnegade 19 in the city centre. This is a different scale from Berlin’s multi-day programme: one room, one evening and its own ticket sales. The atmosphere differs too. A club concert brings musicians and audience into a fixed space, whereas a city festival can spread its programme across several stages. The Montmartre listing gives a clear time, while the line-up and available seats belong to the current venue calendar.
The name Copenhagen Jazz Festival could cause confusion here. The organiser dates its 2026 edition from 3 through 12 July. The October performance at Jazzhus Montmartre is therefore not part of that summer edition. This is more than a calendar detail: a festival page describes a defined series, while a club organises its own evenings throughout the year. Copenhagen remains a jazz city outside July, but its October calendar cannot be inferred from the July dates. The club listing is the relevant source for Buster Isitt’s evening; the festival provides background on the city’s wider jazz life.
Together, the dates make a clear snapshot. Berlin has a forthcoming festival at several venues from 29 October to 1 November. In Paris, Jazz sur Seine and the festival at Le 360 had ended by 25 October. Copenhagen offers a separate concert at Jazzhus Montmartre on 28 October, months after its summer festival. A comparison of these cities is therefore not a comparison of three identical festival weekends: it brings together an upcoming festival, two completed series and one club evening. For each forthcoming performance, the organiser’s or venue’s specific listing supplies its location, start time and ticket status. A single date can give a travel idea a very different meaning.
