Peace: a Norwegian committee
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by a committee of five members appointed by the Norwegian parliament, the Storting, writes the Nobel organisation. This year the committee is chaired by Jørgen Watne Frydnes.
Alfred Nobel's will
On 27 November 1895, a year before his death, Alfred Nobel signed the famous will on which the prizes are based. According to nobelprize.org, most of his estate amounted to more than 31 million Swedish kronor, today roughly 2.2 billion kronor.
