Two calendars will soon overlap at Rathausplatz. The Wiener Christkindlmarkt is open from 13 November through 26 December, daily from 10:00 to 22:00. On 24 December, the market closes earlier, at 18:30.

At the same time, the Eistraum am Christkindlmarkt opens for skating. It runs from 13 November through 6 January and is also open daily from 10:00 to 22:00; it closes at 18:30 on 24 December and is shut on 31 December.

Winter activities therefore continue after the Christmas market ends. The larger Wiener Eistraum begins on 22 January 2027 and runs through 7 March, from 10:00 to 22:00. The city says the temporary rink at the market offers about 3,000 square metres of ice.

The two skating periods have their own practical details, but prices for skating and skate hire have not yet been announced. The number of market stalls is also unknown, so no estimate is given.

The market stands between the Burgtheater and City Hall. Trams 1, 71 and D stop at Rathausplatz/Burgtheater; tram 2 stops at Parlament. Metro lines U2 and U3 also serve the area.

According to the city, the previous Wiener Eistraum drew about 700,000 visitors in 2026. That figure concerns the previous season and is not a forecast for the next rink. The Commons photographs show earlier editions, not the 2026 setup.
